Over the last ten years, Room For Living of Cowbridge has established itself at the forefront of high-end kitchen design across South Wales and beyond. How? By offering cutting-edge design, creative solutions and having an almost obsessive quest for creating the perfect kitchen for its many satisfied customers.
PERFECT TEN
"We have clearly weathered the recession as customers return to quality refurbishment projects rather than move," exclaims Mike MacNabb, Room For Living's owner. "Ours is a highly personalised service. Whether it's simply fitting a kitchen or a complete redesign and fit."
So how is this compact and bijou kitchen company managing to buck the current trend? "Discerning buyers are there and they are seeking out good products at value for money at every level." says Mike. "Fortunately, not many companies can operate at this level. Customers are far more demanding; and quite rightly so, they're paying more. The quality of the product, of design, of everything is in a different league. Our kitchens are designed and built to last."
With a small team of designers and installers, Mike runs a tight ship and takes great pride in the products the team offers and is especially excited about developments in their Schüller range. Mike continues, "There are several new sub-ranges coming on line with really clever design features that are exclusive to the manufacturer. We create traditional and contemporary here at Room For Living but I'd say orders are up for contemporary with clean uncomplicated lines at the moment - it's just the ebb and flow of what's in fashion."
Room For Living are also bringing in a new range of Italian inspired kitchens in late Spring. "They're going to be stunning," says Mike. "It's going to open up a whole new way of designing kitchens for us. Curvy and creative; the ergonomics and design possibilities are really exciting our team of designers and some of our customers, who've already had a sneak preview, are already talking about placing orders.
We'll be introducing revised traditional kitchens in timber and paint effect to cater for the more conservative tastes but with a modern twist."
I ask Mike if it's that passion for design that keeps it interesting after ten years? "Absolutely, kitchens are great mirrors of technological and style development. The manufacturers are always looking to improve - especially at this level. They can't stand still because their competitors aren't. It's what makes it interesting and, at Room For Living, we're enjoying being at the forefront."
