Ian Phillips returns to Celtic Manor

Ian Phillips who was Director of Leisure at the South Wales venue when the five-star, 330-bedroom Resort Hotel opened in 1999 has returned to The Celtic Manor Resort as Rooms Division Director.

Ian left in 2003 and subsequently took up senior management positions with the Jumeirah Group in Dubai and at the Maldives Vittaveli luxury resort. During his time overseas, Mr Phillips passed the prestigious Hotel Management Programme at Cornell University to assist his progression from hotel leisure to mainstream resort management.

As Rooms Division Director at Celtic Manor, he will take control of front office, lobby management, transport and housekeeping teams and be responsible for ensuring the consistency of the five-star guest experience at the resort, which has been voted the UK's Top Conference Hotel for the last five years running.

"This property has always been very close to my heart," said Mr Phillips on his return to Wales. "I look forward to building on the reputation for excellence already enjoyed by Celtic Manor and, with so many developments planned for the resort, this was an exciting opportunity to come back. I have always considered this to be Europe's finest resort and I hope the international experience I have picked up at luxury resorts will help me further improve on the standards of consistency at Celtic Manor to give guests the ultimate fivestar experience."

Ian Edwards, Chief Operating Officer at The Celtic Manor Resort, said, "We are delighted to welcome back someone of Ian's broad range of experience in resort management. We know he is going to be another key asset to our strong team."
