About Me
I'm a freelance editor, writer and proofreader with a background in corporate communications. My publishing life started while I was studying at Cardiff University as full-time elected editor of the student newspaper Gair Rhydd. Soon after, I started working for a major contract publishing company in Cardiff and Bristol, then as Editorial Director for a niche marketing communications agency.
In 2005, I started working freelance before taking three months out to study Italian in Perugia in central Italy. I now live and work between Bristol and Perugia.

How did I get this far?
(previous positions held & professional experience) From Editor to Senior Editor to Editorial Director to freelance editor - publishing, editing, writing and proofreading magazines, ezines, websites - in fact, anything that needs to guide, inspire, entertain or inform - for clients both large and small.
What drives me?
Curiosity. Obstinacy. Perfectionism. The journey
For just one day I'd like to walk in the shoes of...
any woman who can walk elegantly in high heels
My last supper would be
A lunch that rolls into dinner with those closest to me. That would include soufflè and vintage Champagne
Album that changed my life
Pale Saints - Comforts of Madness
Books that influenced me the most
Winnie the Pooh
The Collector by John Fowles
Early bird or night owl?
Definitely a night owl. although early mornings are amazing
Most significant travel moment
Going to a local market in Hong Kong at the age of seven
Places I love
West Wales, Italy, New Zealand, the sea, home (wherever that might be)
My mentors
My friends
When I'm not working I love.
drinking wine, planning and cooking my next meal, eating out, staying in great hotels, photography, listening to music, people watching, dreaming
Five things to do before I pop my clogs
Return to Le Sirenuse hotel in Positano
Make a three-course dinner that a certain best friend declares as 'perfect'
Hold a conversation in Italian without making any mistakes
Read an instruction manual from beginning to end
See my books for children in published form
Life-changing moment
Still to come
The cynic in me says
Nothing is real
My bugbears are
People who lack humility
Impatience
Arrogance
People who talk too much and don't listen
Call centres
Poor customer service
Bad coffee
100 words when 25 could say the same
Corporate blurb
Grammatical errors
People with long lists of bugbears
Creed I live by
There is a solution to everything
Simplicity often works best
The less you say, the more people listen
Quality costs
Wine helps
I'm best described as
Calm personified
Little known facts about me
Cary Grant is apparently a distant relative. I was born in Germany
3 strengths
I don't give in easily. there is always a way
