And a leg up from some fairly decent people (plus a little good luck).

What drives me?
An unhealthy obsession with getting whatever it is I do absolutely right. I enjoy straying out of my comfort zone.

For just one day I'd like to walk in the shoes of...
Me at the age of ten (it was a magical time).

My last supper would be.
My wife's roast chicken dinner with proper granny gravy.

Album that changed my life
There's so many, I love music. I bought Regatta De Blanc by The Police when it first came out along with The Wall by Pink Floyd in the same weekend. I haven't stopped playing or buying music since.

Books that influenced me the most.
My dad was a policeman and when I was about nine years old we were visiting the home of one of his senior officers who he gave me a collection of encyclopaedias. My head was buried in them for the next five years. I like books but love reading newspapers. I'm a bit of a tart when it comes to newspapers, I read The Independent, The Guardian, The Times, local papers just to get a different perspective on a story - I enjoy reading and listening to debate.

Early bird or night owl?
I always used to be a night owl but I find myself becoming more of an early bird as get older.

Most significant travel moment
I was snorkelling in Lanzarote about a mile off a beach and was visited by a huge ray. It was just me and this beautiful fish checking each other out in about thirty feet of blue clear water - a very spiritual moment.

Places I love
The Vale - Llantwit Major, Penarth, Rhoose, Cowbridge.
UK - West Wales, Cornwall, Wye Valley, the Valleys.
Abroad - Majorca, Portugal, Sardinia, The Canaries.

My mentors
My dad, my mum, my wife, my sons - they keep me on my toes. I've worked with some great people over the years - people who inspired me to always do better.

When I'm not working I love...
Getting out on my motorcycle.
Drumming.
Sparring and training.
Going to the cinema.
Socialising.

Five things to do before I pop my clogs
They're pretty unprintable but I will do them.

Life changing moment
Watching my wife get well when I thought I was going to lose her.

The cynic in me says.
A lot of things but I recognise him for the imposter he is.

My bugbears are
Rude and childish people.
Fly tipping.
Jobsworths.
Tesco.

Creed I live by
The poem 'If' by Rudyard Kipling - it's pretty much my life manual. I often sing Monty Python's Galaxy Song to myself as I go about my business - it keeps me sane (ish).

I'm best described as.
Off the wall.

Little known facts about me
At the age of twenty, I was the youngest advanced motorcycle instructor in the UK.

Three strengths
Optimistic.
Creative.
Determined.
