Aberdare is a busy shopping town which combines an eventful history with a grand scenic setting that is home to a wide range of extraordinary shops that offer visitors a unique opportunity to find something a bit different.

ABERDARE

As you meander along Aberdare's Victorian streets it's clear to see why so many shoppers head to the town every year... Aberdare has all you need for that special Christmas gift.

From bespoke jewellery to festive homemade cakes there is even a chance to take part in special cupcake workshops! For your Christmas parties, Aberdare has got your one-of-a-kind outfit waiting to be picked out, courtesy of the many fashion boutiques, plus all your beauty needs catered for, thanks to the wealth of hair and beauty salons. There is even a party shop which will add that festive fun to your work's night out!

After all that shopping, it's time to rest those tired feet and relax in one of the many restaurants and cafes that the town has to offer. If that's not enough to help you find that perfect present, the Indoor Market offers a wealth of stalls, selling a wide range of unusual and home grown items.

Aberdare Town Centre is currently undergoing massive regeneration, which will further improve the shopping experience thanks to a £7.7m investment, which includes monies from the Welsh Government through the European Regional Development Fund, Heads of the Valleys Programme and Targeted Match Funding. The remainder of the funding is provided by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund, Cadw and the private sector.

This £7.7m project also includes town centre commercial property improvements, under the Aberdare Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) and Townscape Enhancement Programme (TEP). These offer financial support to businesses and commercial property owners to make external and internal building improvements to enhance the quality of the premises and bring disused space back into use.

Even with all the regeneration works currently going on, it's business as usual for shops, traders and visitors alike and with FREE parking in the town from 19th December to 24th December - a shopping trip to Aberdare this festive season should definitely be on your Christmas to-do list!
